Hi there!

I'm a guitarist, composer/songwriter, and educator currently living in Minneapolis, MN. Nice to meet you!

As a guitarist, I've toured the Midwest and East Coast, been on over a dozen recordings of original music, and have had the chance to work and/or share the stage with artists ranging from eighth blackbird to Here Come the Mummies! While my interests range from Bach to bluegrass and the spaces in between them, I can most often be found
counting to 7 in chamber-folk trio Sprig of That, or wearing a power ranger costume on stage with nerd-funk outfit Porky's Groove  Machine.

As a composer, I did the standard classical composition thing (contemporary orchestral/chamber instrumental music) in college, all the while writing a lot of songs for rock bands, funk bands, bluegrass bands, sad singer-songwriter dudes, etc.  In the February of 2020, I premiered "Ya No Tengo Miedo, Por Primera Vez," a song cycle about my great-grandparents absolutely wild life story (along with some thoughts about why it might still matter today) for 2 singers, guitar, drums, bass, piano, violin, cello, trumpet, and trombone as a part of the 2019-2020 Cedar Cultural Center Cedar Commissions.

During the day, I work as assistant to producer/CEO/manager/hero Lazerbeak's (Lizzo, Doomtree, Dessa...it goes on and on) in managing a variety of artists and running Doomtree Records...which means doing everything from writing copy for Patreon campaigns to awkwardly chit-chatting with Fedex Warehouse employees about what "Doomtree" means.

I've presented dozens and dozens of educational workshops to students across the Midwest, including as a part of Carnegie Hall's Audience Engagement Intensive, Minnesota Public Radio's Class Notes program, and the Mile of Music Music Education team. I've always given scores of students of all ages and levels private lessons on guitar, ukulele, piano, drums...you name it.

In 2017, I received the Bachelors of Music degree with majors in classical guitar performance and composition from Lawrence University, where I studied guitar with Nathan Wysock and Steve Peplin, and composition with Joanne Metcalf, Asha Srinivasan, Andrew Coal, David Werfelmann, and Matt Turner.  Since finishing my degree, I continue to study composition with Gabriel Kahane.
